       Chances are to get traffic website, if you have a website or a blog, you'd like to get website traffic. You put information on the internet because you wanted people to see it. However, once you got your site or blog up and running, you realized that the hard part was still to come getting visitors to your site! The bad news is that there are lots of sites competing for the same traffic. New websites go up every day and every webmaster wants to get visitors to their site. The good news is that there is LOTS of traffic on the internet and if you are willing to work, you can easily get website traffic to your little place on the web. Read on for some great tips.


1. Publish high-quality content.
       Before you attempt to get website traffic, you should first make sure that you publish great content that people will want to come back to again and again. Visitors aren't going to do a bit of good if you don't have enough good content to get them to stay!

2. List your Website with High-Quality Directories.
       The king of all directories is DMOZ to get website traffic. Be sure to apply to have your site listed with them. You can also apply to be included in Yahoo's directory, but you'll have to pay for the honor of being considered. Beyond that, look for high-quality, niche directories and request inclusion in them. Back-links will help you with the search engines.

3. Join Forums that Relate To Your Topic.
      If you have a site about guitars, join forums that are full of others who like guitars. Put your website in your signature and get involved. Don't drive-by and leave spam - instead become a trusted member of the forum. Answer questions, start conversations and make friends. After you do that, then you can start to link to your website in the forum when it's appropriate.

4. Exchange links with other high-quality websites.
      Back-links are an important part of get website traffic. Google rates sites higher if other sites link to them. However, if your site is found on link farms or other undesirable sites, you will be penalized. So, make sure that you are only having links to your site placed on other good websites.

6. Use Social Networking to Your Advantage.
      Make sure that your website is listed on your Facebook, MySpace, and any other social networking sites that you are a member of. Search for other members who have the same interest as you. Get involved in groups that relate to your niche. Social networking is huge these days, and if you use it properly, it can really help to get website traffic!

7. Use a Newsletter or eZine to Connect With Your Visitors.
     Once you have a visitor to your site, you've got to offer them ways to stay in touch with you. Send out weekly or monthly ezines and offer your visitors plenty of opportunities to sign up. When you are able to contact them after they visit your site, you have a potential visitor for life - and this is a beautiful thing!

8. Continue to Promote Your Site Over Time.
    It takes time and patience to build traffic. That means that you have to constantly engage in promoting your website. Spending one week trying to promote your site and then forgetting about it isn't going to do you a bit of good. You've got to continue to work to get website traffic over a long period of time.
